I recently acquired a wooden clarient, that is old and need new cork. The only markings I can find are on each pieces I P on one line and B below those letters. No other markings. The metal piece that hold the reed on is old too, and of course, could have been added any time. It says France. I am wondering if anyone know who made this clarinet? I can't find any serial numbers.
Thanks in advance for any help.

That I P is most likely L P for "low pitch" (the modern standard). The alternative would be H P. The B is for B-flat. None of that indicates anything about the maker.

I'll also support the L P B - Low Pitch Bb.
B is German for our Bb and H is German for our B natural - which is strange as French for Bb is Sib (Si bémol).

Well, what appears to be an "I" could have been either an I or a H .....or should have been.....
