 Reeds Trading System?

Does anyone know of a site or system where someone can trade reeds with other people? I got a box of reeds from a brand that I wanted to try, but I don't really like them. I would like to trade these for gonzalez fof's which have been my main reeds choice.

I've often wondered the same thing. What do you have? I've got some fofs that I'm willing to part company with - boxes opened, but reeds unused, of course. I've got six size 4s and four size 3.5s.

So, to state the obvious, how do you know the opened reeds haven't been tried by someone with a contagious disease?

With the flu going around I don't think this sounds like such a great idea. ESP

heh... I suppose we may have found the one situation in which the new Vandoren packaging is actually a plus.

I don't know. You can also say that it serves to keep the bugs in.

In reality, I wouldn't be worried at all about using used reeds. A bit of soap and running water will get rid of any bugs.

Steve - waiting for a wikipedia article showing how the black death in Europe started with a dirty chalumeau reed! ;-)

A bug's not going to live on a piece of cane for more than a day most likely - yes?

Of course it would be a nasty thought, but reality....

I'd still use an alcohol swab on it though.

Very few diseases are easily transmitted through saliva, and especially not colds or the flu. They're mainly transmitted by airborn "mist" from sneezing or coughing, and less so by hands.

I have a post somewhere from a microbiologist on the BBD responding to a question about the need to sterilize mouthpieces and reeds. I'll look for it and post it tomorrow, but that's the gist of the thing.

B.
