Vito (LeBlanc) makes a student line of instruments that come in various colors. They probably have blue but I don't think purple.

Check out the recent thread on "I Want a Different Colored Clarinet." Also, Nate posted the Vito web site. Click on Dazzler.

I know Vito makes them (I think they are called Vito Dazzlers), you could probably get them from IMS or BW & WW. I once saw someone with a white clarinet, in a concert band. It stuck out like a sore thumb, but the person was sitting towards the back. Hope you find what you are looking for!

Isabella:

Why a colored instrument? I know that this is a fad, just like the different flovored reeds which have shown up on the market lately. After the new wears off what will you do with it? Will it really help you play better? What resale value will it have? Will anyone else REALLY want a colored instrument? I guess this why we have designer clothes so that designers can get rich overnight.

If your reason for purchasing a colored instrument is because it "looks cool" then almost anything will suffice. If, however, you you want a new horn because it plays better, then I suggest that you really check your motives for the proposed purchase.

Good luck in your decisions.

Well said Bob. Already most players see the coloured Vitos as tacky. And if by chance they did catch on then ever year Vito would bring out a new fashion colour, and today's one will have little value compared with the new one with fluro pink glitter and pea green stripes on a lroyal blue background. You would feel just so sucked in, and Vito (Le Blanc) would be so rich.

Two legitimate places for Dazzler clarinets:

(1) A high school marching band where all clarinetists are outfitted with the same color clarinet. (Right, what school district has the money to buy that many clarinets?)

(2) A clown band or other small, showy, informal ensemble that wears loud clothing and plays primarily outside.
