title says it all. i have not had good experiences with the few shops that exist in las vegas nevada. does anyone have a good suggestion. i need a couple pads replaced and i'm thinking about getting a kooiman thumbrest among other things.
las vegas is a lol for music shops, it would be a great place to start a music shop if you are an aspiring shop owner.

i have been there.. and I am boycotting them for terrible customer service, and no price matching. i dont want to get into it too much but they charged me like 35 bux for a pack of V12s. and that was after having me wait thirty minutes to see if the manager would let them price match to the muncy winds price. the reason he gave me for why he wouldnt allow a price match was because the price difference was not enough.
grrrrr.

So, over a bad walk in experience with a particular manager, you walk away.
Here is a better plan. CALL first. Talk to Chuck Kessler (owner) or Dave Kessler (son), and explain what you went through. I bet you'll get your extra couple dollar price match.
Chuck is the woodwind tech by the way. I tend to question the story though, as I have two of their saxophones, and nothing but great reviews from friends and others on SOTW who have made use of Kessler's services.

I've mail ordered things from Dave Kessler and have had great service with no problems. I think it's rather unfair to expect a long distance mail order price to be matched by a local store. Don't forget when ordering by mail you have to pay shipping costs and wait for your purchase. Instant gratification has value, how much, that's for you to decide.

you don't even know you should ask.

Ok let me get this straight, you're boycotting their repair service because they didn't give you price for reeds that you liked? Have you had any repairs done by them? if they did a good job take it back if not talk to a few of the pros in the area. You can email Alan Lawson @ Elitejazz@aol.com if you need to talk to a high level working pro that demands high quality repairs. But I know, that he, like me sent our clarinets to John Parrette up in New York when we needed the yearly tune up.

well like i told them, there IS a sam ash music in town who do price match to muncy and wwbw.
but i'll admit, i was at one of their smaller locations (they have three) it definetly was not the main store. they must not have had a great deal of influence over much.

Sorry to hear of your experience with our store.
Honestly, we cannot match Muncy Wind's price of $22.50 on the V12 box of clarinet reeds because this is below our cost that we pay. So if we match it, we lose money. Granted, dont get me wrong, I wish that I could match their price, but simply cannot.
We are not a big enough volume dealer from VanDoren to get the absolute best pricing.
However, after their shipping charge of $6.99... the box price comes to $29.49 - a price that I am willing and able to match. Granted, I still have to charge Nevada Sales Tax but I will match the $29.49 price.
Always feel free to contact me directly with any issues. I am assuming you came in last week (based on the date of your post) and assume you came in to our GV/Henderson store. NORMALLY, I personally am at that store most days, but I was on vacation last week.
You can always ask for me by name.

I can tell you from personal experience that there are very few dealers who work as hard for their clients as Kessler Music. They are very proactive in giving good advice and excellent service. That does not always mean the lowest price but I have found they are responsive to client needs and sensitive to offering good value.Carol Dutcher wrote:
