The bass clarinet 'Oliver' theme (in triplets and in 8ves with cor anglais) that crops up isn't particularly well written, I can't remember where it crops up but do give that solo/duet a fair going over.
I only know that as I was playing oboe/cor and the clarinettist was having some trouble getting around bass clarinet, so he played just the first note of each triplet while I played the second and third notes (on cor) which made for an interesting tonal change in the melody.

I just finished subbing in a run of Oliver. Not difficult at all in my opinion and we were working with just violin, flute/piccolo, clarinet/bass clarinet, trombone, and rhythm section. There were a few fast runs that needed some practice time, but not much.

I played Oliver last Nov. with a reduced Pit. The Clarinet book was a mix of Bb and Bass Cl. as stated above. From what I can recall most of the tricky runs for Bb had sharps - practice D, A & E major scales and arpeggios to prep. - mostly over "the break". Also, practice Ab major - I cant recall what part, but I vaguely remember a slightly tricky song that was in that key - upper clarion register.
Due to a violin issue, I had the opportunity to play the klezmeresq cadenzas in Reviewing the Situation - a LOT of fun!

Those cadenzas are really neat, awesome you got to play them.
The hardest part would probably be "Oom Pah Pah(Sp)". Its so mind-numbingly repitive, you have a hard time keeping track of whats what.

I love Oliver. Does anyone know where i can find the "reviewing the situation" solo?
♪ Music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent. ♪

I transposed it from the violin book. I wouldn't think it was otherwise readily available.
