ok i keep getting these darn breathing terms confused. I know what they mean, but i keep mixing up which one's which. plz define
1. Breath Support
2. Air Support
3. Breath Control
4. Air Pressure
5. Air Column

2. Air Support
Both the same thing. My def is to use the abdominal muscles to provide a steady pressure of the air from your lungs into the clarinet.
3. Breath Control
This is different from the first two in that it involves knowing how much air you have in your lungs and how much you need for a phrase. Also, it means to control your air, blowing steadily no matter where you are in a phrase.
4. Air Pressure
Generally speaking, this is the pressure of the air against the reed. Some may use it in a similar fashion to #1 & #2.
5. Air Column
This is the air stream or breath moving from your lungs into/at the clarinet.

I'd say 'air column' is the amount of air set in motion within the instrument when it's at play - eg. a long air column is a note employing a long lenth of tubing (either register) and a short air column is a note employing a shorter length of tubing such as a throat note.
But this is best explained by someone who can explain the physics of woodwinds to an audience who understands physics. Or explained by them in layman's terms to someone who didn't do particularly well in physics.
