Just found a photo of the triple vent speaker mechanism as used on German basses: http://www.gerold-klarinetten.at/clarinet/presse-01.htm
Who's going to be the first on here to make and fit it to their Prestige bass?

Chris -
I explored the gerold-klarinetten site but found no other bass clarinet. Odd. I don't speak German, but there was no BC picture and the word bassklarinette didn't appear.
This looks like the standard triple mechanism for throat Bb plus two register vents, one on the neck and one near the top of the body, but there's not enough of the instrument visible to be sure. The third vent looks too large to be a register vent.
A bass with 3 register vents would have a quadruple mechanism, 3 register vents + throat Bb.

The bass clarinet photo on that page is from a different (previous) article as Gerold only makes soprano clarinets - though it would be interesting to know what this article in 'Rohrblatt' was about.

Unless the lower vent would also act as the throat Bb tone hole, the same as it is on current Boehm system bass clarinets with automatic register system e.g. Buffet, Selmer, Yamaha, etc.

The extra vent would be located in between the current two found on French instruments.
It sounds like something not too far off a nightmare to have three automatic vents, though definitely something of a challenge!
Anyone with a German bass with this mechanism, please attach some detailed photos so we can see what's going on.
