 Cleaning old hard rubber clarinets

What are some ways to clean old hard rubber clarinets without them turning all greenish on you? What can you do for them if they're already that way and you want to get them black again?

Use a dilute soap solution (diswashing liquid) in cool water and rinse with cool water - dry with a cotton towel. Once they are green, brown, or olive there is little that can be done to get them black again without much work and abrasion or strong chemicals. Hope this helps.

Can be cleaned using very fine wire wool and fine metal polish... and then polish to a shine in the usual way...
But it's very tedious work...I've cleaned up a few mouthpieces that way in the past....but never tried a whole clarinet
