Hi. I searched the archives and couldn't find anyone discussing this, so here I am. I am looking to buy a used beginner clarinet, such as the Yamaha or Selmer student models, for about $250 US. I've been looking around online, and came across musicremasters.com. Has anyone ever dealt with them before? Are they a reputable business, or a scam? Any other suggestions of good places to go? Thank You very much.

Check the sponsors over on the right (geographically speaking). There's a couple of refurbishers in the Instruments section and under Service, John Butler has some used, refurbished instruments for sale.

musicremasters.com, a sponsor of this board, is quite legit.
my plastic Selmer Signet came from musicremasters and it was a good purchase.
if you look there, you'll probably want a Yamaha YCL 20. Great student clarinets. I believe they are in the price range you mentioned.
musicremasters and other reputable sources usually have a trial period and return policy. make sure to ask about that, and don't settle for "you buy it, you're stuck with it."
other online sellers of used clarinets include theclarinetshoppe.com and clarinetcloset.com. I've not done business with them.
