Hi!
I'm currently working on some of my scales at slow tempos to get them solid before i move up but i'm wondering how i might do a few of hte fingerings. I can do many different ones at slower tempos but i'm not sure what i should start using and learning so that I cna play well at higher tempos.
A-flat major: starting on low A-flat then going to the mid then the one above the staff then the high one (so a 3 octave scale). What fingering should i use for the F-G-Ab when i get to the top?
E-major: going from low G# - F# - E - then up to G# ?
C-sharp minor: low C# - low E - low G# - low C# (this one seems tricky because I can't really even find a way to slide at all. should i maybe start a fingering and then switch fingerings while on the note with like 32nd note speed? and even at higher tempos?)
Any advice owuld be greatly appreciated.

Other folks have different preferences, I'm sure, but here's what I'd do:
Ab major:
F: RT o x x C#/G# | o o o Ab/Eb
G: RT o x o Eb/Bb | o o o Ab/Eb
Ab: RT o o o Eb/Bb | o o o Ab/Eb
(You can use the RH sliver key instead of the Ab/Eb key if these fingerings are too flat)
E major: Because I really don't like to slide if I can avoid it, I'd do a "retake" on the E. In other words, play the G# RH, F# LH, E RH (then quickly shift to the LH E while holding the RH E so you don't get a gap), G# RH.
C# Minor: I'd do the same E retake for this, too. (As your post suggested).

Check my website and look at the fingering chart. Figure out the best fingerings for you. Find what works the easiest but is well in tune as well. ESP http://eddiesclarinet.com

A couple of fingerings I have been recently using are:
G6 TR X00/000 eb works well in most fast scale patterns; if I have time, I prefer the more traditional TR X0X/XX0 eb or just TRX00/XX0 eb;
G#6 TR000/X00 eb I also use TR0XX/X00 with lh C which works well in the A major scale (at least, for "fumble fingers me)
For the low G#-F#-E thing, I slide rh little finger from G#-C# if fast; otherwise, I "double do" the low E to get back to the G# like MR.
Another thing which has helped my lh technique is to avoid using he "two side keys" F#4 preferring to flop from T to lf first finger, even in fast passages. It is smooth and efficient having all the action in the left hand and not having to coordinate T and rh sides keys all the time. Picked up this idea from the Marcellus interview where he indicated teaching it to all of his students. It works, even in the knucklebusting "Flight of the BB" or as some say, "Blight of the Fumble Bee". For me, avoiding the side keys makes for less "fumble" in all chromatic passages.
