I just audition for my wind ensemble and i made it and my band teacher really wants me to consider getting a better clarinet then my only clarinet (which is plastic). I just got a A Gigliotti mouthpiece and ligature but i really want a wood and more professional clarinet. Im looking at a R13 Buffet but the only problem is the price. What is a good clarinet for a wind ensemble setting that around the price range of 800-1500?

J my observation of older [used?] "good" cls, I have found several Selmer USA cls in their C 100 etc series to be the sweetest [dark toned ?] insts , wellbeyond others which tend to "grow brilliajnt?" in the clarion. If I were to try again in a cl choir on a sop. cl, I played in a C C on a "needed" alto cl for a year or so, an old C100 would be my choice from a number of otherwise good ones. Just passing thots, Don
Thanx, Mark, Don

If you haven't already done so, check out the thread entitled "Help me choose a new clarinet" on the front page of this board.
