Selmer, Leblanc, Buffet all sound good!

Hi All:

I just had a really fun time!

I played with Diana Krall at Carnegie Hall on Tuesday & Wednesday nights.

But the best part was, I was in a section with the Metropolitan Opera greats; Steve Williamson & Anthony McGill...WOW!

So, Steve was playing his wonderful Selmer, and Anthony was playing his unique Leblanc, and I was using my old R-13 Buffet.

What was really cool was the fact that, without saying a word, we all adjusted to each other immediately, and made beautiful music with Diana Krall.

So, my simple conclusion is:
It's not the make of the horn you are playing that matters, it's what you make with the horn you have.

Check out our NY Times review, it's pretty good, and I had a great time!

Agreed! I have an R13 Bb and a Leblanc Concerto A. The only time I notice is when people think they know better and mention it. I just say they're both great instruments so I have nothing to worry about. And it doesn't hurt that my A is better than many R13 A's out there!

This is so true, I was recently on tour and my 2nd was playing German system. No one knew because we blended so well together.

Bravo, this is so true. The year after I got my Selmer Signature Bb my section leader in the BSO and I played one of the Brahms Serenades together, he asked me months later when I got it. He never realized I wasn't using my R13 at the time we did the serenade and played it on my Selmer. It wasn't the first time I played second to him using my Selmer but he never realized it and I didn't say anything when I began using it in the BSO. I guess he never looked at it, it was so nice and shiny too. Surprise! It ain't the horn people, it's the player. ESP http://eddiesclarinet.com
