 Band Accomp for two clarinets?
Author: JamesOrlandoGarcia

Any recommendations out there for a double concerto or duet piece for two clarinets and band accompaniment (transcribed)? The band accompaniment is what I'm looking for.

Not exactly a "concerto" but a wonderful romp for two accomplished clarinetists, including Allesandro Carbonare in this video:

I played a clarinet duet with band accompaiment in college and I believe the title was, Rondo Concertante by Burnet Tuthill. Too many years ago to be certain of my memory, but that title is close........ Hope it is still in print--it was fun to play and quite entertaining.

AHA--here is a link to an earlier posting: http://test.woodwind.org/clarinet/BBoard/read.html?f=1&i=15322&t=15285&v=t

Mendelssohn's Concertpiece No 2 for 2 clarinets with band accompaniment is readily available. I believe the arrangement is by Harry Gee.

For the piece played by Carbonare in the U-Tube link above, Oliver Seely has the score in Finale format at:

http://www.csudh.edu/oliver/clarmusi/clarmusi.htm

If you or someone in the band has Finale, it should be fairly easy to generate a set of band parts. The source for the Finale files is the original manuscript and, yes, it is in the public domain.

You can download the solo parts and look at them to see it they are something you would like to do. It takes a couple of pretty strong players, as the U-Tube performance shows.

Best regards,
jnk
