I have been shopping around to buy a new clarinet recetly, and until now, had decided to buy a Leblanc Cadenza for 2,000$. But I recently found the Rapsodie on a website marked down from 1,700$ to only 700$. I'm currently a high school student who is very serious about playing clarinet and was hoping the next one I buy will carry me through college.
Does the clarinet BBoard think I should drop the 2k to get the glorious Cadenza, or should I go for the Rapsodie?

Why not buy a top of the line used clarinet? For the same money you can get a much better instrument. IMO, intermediate instruments are a waste of money.

I live in the middle of Arkansas, I don't have anywhere to buy a "top of the line used clarinet".
Trust me, i've looked. The best used clarinet i've ever found was a buffet r13 on sale for 500$. The sad thing is, it was in such horrible condition that I didn't even buy it. All the other used clarinets in this backwards state is just a 60$-300$ beatup clarinets.

A brand new Leblanc Rapsodie for $700 is a very good deal. I'd buy it and put a really good mouthpiece ($200+) on it. If necessary, you can have it fine tuned by a good tech.
