Clarinet Duet - Mozart Clarinet Concerto
Author: Jerry
Date:   2009-04-14 17:09

I'm trying to replace the Mozart Clarinet Concerto in duet form for Two Clarinets that I had a couple of years ago and subsequently gave away or lost.

It has all three movements, and the two clarinets progressively trade off the piano and clarinet parts. Any idea where this might be purchased, or at least the formal name of the arrangement so that I can search for it?

It is NOT the Excerpts from the Clarinet Concert transcribed by Harry Gee by Southern Music.

Actually Roncorp Publications has a new release (c) 2009 of the complete Mozart Clarinet Concerto as a clarinet duet. It's exactly as you describe: 2 clarinets, no other instruments, melody line is traded off.

I'm not sure if you're aware of this, but Roncorp works are now distributed by Northeastern Music Publications (in Glenmoore PA) and their website is TheMusicMentor.com.

You'll be able to find it there.

Also, they list a toll free phone number of 866-385-8446.

Reminds me of the Weber Gran Duo for 2 Clarinets.

I've read through an arrangement of the first Brahms Sonata for 2 clarinets... it was really really tough!

I have both the Weber and Brahms 1st. Very good arrangements by the samr person. Would be interested in the Mozart if only to see how the basset notes are treated. I assume there are just like the 'traditional' version but a duet with two basset clarinets adds a whole lot of scope.

The Weber and Brahms works mentioned were by Gustave Langenus, and are now out of print.

The Weber is still in print. I bought it while in Passadena California last May. There were at least 3 copies when I got mine.

I just ordered the Mozart last night from Chris's link - he is the arranger.

Hello,

That reminded me that I have a duet version of the entire Beethoven's 5th Symphony. It's really well arranged and hilarious!
