It was Jack Brymer with Neville Marriner and the Academy of St. Martin-in-the-Fields.

Wonder how many times the Mozart Concerto has been used in a movie?
Seeing this thread reminded me that the Adagio - played by Stoltzman and the English Chamber Orchestra - is in the movie "Green Card" with Gerard Depardieu and Andie MacDowell.

My CD of the Brymer/ Marriner recording of the concerto states that it was the 'original recording featured in Out of Africa'.
Dont know if they ever recorded it again together, but this was recorded in September 1971.
Its a Philips disc.

Hi Steve L - This has become intriugung, at least to me. My 33 bears "6500 533/378", below it "Made in Holland", below it "6500.378.1", below it "P" [in a circle] "1972". Could we have two renditions of the same original recording?? Of course this may be like Shakespeare said, "Much Ado About" not very much ! Don
Thanx, Mark, Don

Now my favourite Mozart clarinet concerto movie is À bout de souffle. Or Breathless, if you prefer.
Anyone know which recording was used in that? I have a memory of a revolving Yellow Label...

Don,
Looking in the 'Gramophone Good CD Guide', they say Brymer recorded the concerto with Thomas Beecham and Colin Davis but the way they have worded the review it would apear he only recorded it the once with Marriner. With the 1972 date it looks like its the same recording that has been remastered on the CD I have.
