I put a wooden Buffet barrel on a plastic Bundy Mazzeo clarinet. It played nice for an hour but when i tried to take the clarinet apart, the barrel was completely stuck. Is there a recommended way to un-stick them? I once heard of somebody putting a clarinet in the freezer. Would that work?

If you put a wooden barrel on a plastic clarinet, just wait. Within a day it will have shrunk to its original dimensions and you can remove it.

Be careful when removing a stuck barrel from a plastic clarinet as tenons are more likely to snap off on these if you use too much force. And low temperatures will also make plastics brittle, so be extra cautious with everything you try.

First thing to try is to try gently to rock the barrel back and forth just a little - most of the time you can wiggle it loose with a little persistence.

Wrap a cloth around the barrel. It will give your hand a better grip. Just as you would a stuck jar lid.

I tried the gentle rocking as suggested. It worked! Thanks for all the good advice.
