I am getting my braces off about a week before I go to band camp. I am afraid that I will blow my audition at band camp because I will not be used to my embouchure without braces. How long does it take to re-establish a good embouchure after removing braces? Do you have any advice?

It will take a little adjustment, but I remember that getting them put on was MUCH more of an adjustment than getting them off...
IMO, probably no more than a couple of days...Based on 25 year old memories of course.

My memory of it is almost 40 years old but it did take a bit of adjusting. More than a few days. But braces were different then I think. In a few weeks though, it will feel great not to have them on any longer.

My braces experience is fairly recent. I found the major adjustments happening during the course of my orthodontia, as my teeth were being re-arranged. I don't remember any adjustment required after having them removed. And I had more embouchure stamina after removal.
I had a rehearsal in the evening of "braces on" day. It was a little painful. I also had a rehearsal in the evening of "braces off" day. It was a joy!

FWIW, most of my students are back to normal within 2,3 days after the braces come off

Thanks to everyone who replied, this makes me feel much less worried about getting my braces off and leaving for band camp a week later
