I am doing a research project about recruiting, and I was wondering if college instrumental instructors talk to their students about possibly joining the Army as a musician. Let me know if you do or don't and why or why not. Thanks.

How are you enjoying Leonardwood? Thinking about going there after this second deployment (except this time I promise I would show up if it's on my orders!)
As for my college instructor, he did mention military musicians. However it seemed like more of a joke to him (not as in army musicians are a joke, as in he didn't think I'd really be interested so he said it in a joking manner). He would come by sometimes while I was practicing, stick his head in the practice room and say, "I found the perfect job for you. A steady clarinet gig with benefits, salary, they feed you, they clothe you, AND you get to travel . . . . . . JOIN A MARINE BAND!!!" That guy was a character! But it did put the idea in my head and here I am.
Also, I did hometown recruiting, and visiting that college, I saw that there were Army Musician flyers constantly posted outside the music department so the department as a whole was not against being a military musician (actually, the jazz instructor and trumpet instructor was an ex-army premiere band member).
