?faulty new cordier trimmer

Just bought a new cordier reed trimmer for Bb clarinet (bought over web) and not sure if it's faulty, as never used one before. The pin that secures the springy clamp (which fixes the base of the reed to the device) easily falls out. Is this normal? I could glue it in if not. Thank you
