On the web-mased magazine L'Orfeo (in Spanish) is a review for the most recent cd of Sean Osborn, former clarinetist of the Met Opera.
"Sean Osborn plays Mozart", the review, can be readed on the "Letras Sonoras" section.

PS There is also a Spanish translation of an extract of the interview James Gholson - Robert Marcellus

I've had Sean's CD of the Rose 32 for some time.
Apparently the sound on it was electronically "enhanced."
Is this a good or bad thing?
Maybe I'll buy his Mozart CD and see if he's still doing it...or not.

Apparently Sean Osborne is identifying himself as former first (primer) clarinet of the Met Opera. Is this this an example of resume puffery -- I though that Ricardo Morales and Joe Rabbai were the co-principals during Osborne's time at the Met!

I would think that there were times when he did play Principal too. There are 2 Principals currently in the Met, yet Jessica plays Principal sometimes too.
I'd wonder if Sean's website got hacked with the "performing on Windows XP" intro to the bio.

I think Larry's talking about the Spanish-language review (because I read it and it does describe Sean as being principal). Sean's website (at least the bio page, anyway) doesn't say principal--it just says he played with the Met.
Since it's a 3rd party review of his CD (and in Spanish, no less), it wouldn't surprise me if this was the reviewers' error and that Sean wasn't even aware of it.

Thanks David!
I have a bio that I give out. One version is available on my website. I never lie in it. What people do with my bio, I have no control over. Anyone who deals with press knows that more than half the time, the press gets it wrong. The funnest thing is when they go into my bio to CHANGE THE SPELLING OF MY NAME!
As for Old Geezer's assertion that my sound on the Rose CD was electronically enhanced, well, I'm not sure what you mean.
If you're referring to equalization, adjusting frequencies to make a CD sound nice, that's something almost every CD has done to it, but we did not do on my CD. If you're talking about adding reverb to make a recording studio sound like a performance space, I can guarantee you that EVERY recording does that, including all three of mine. I try to keep it to a minimum, because I don't like recording in dead spaces, so I pick nice rooms. If you're thinking of something else, then please ask. I'd like to put rumors to rest.
Speaking of rumors, I'm sure many of you know that there are LOTS of things that float around about players. I would regard what you "hear" about anyone: your neighbor, your favorite clarinetist, the star baseball pitcher, or the president with a grain of salt. Rumor and gossip are rarely helpful, and as I stated above, most of the time the press gets it wrong.
Cheers!
Sean

Sean,
What's the story behind track 32 of your Rose 32 CD? After the etude there's almost a minute of dead air and then some interesting adaptions of some etude excerpts. It's kind of like the easter eggs hidden in some web pages and video games. I found it because I let the CD run in my car after the etude finished, sure would surprise my teacher if I could make one of those etudes sound like that!
Thaks for the surprise,
Anne

I've enjoyed other CD's "hidden" tracks for years (esp. Counting Crows), so I thought it would be fun to have one on the Rose CD. I just took the recording of Etude 1 and manipulated it electronically (maybe that's what Old Geezer was talking about).
