Help!! My barrel is stuck...how to get it off?

I ended up leaving my clarinet together overnight after practicing (which I normally don't do) and now I can't get the barrel off. I've done some searches and saw that you can put it in the freezer or use a hairdryer but this is a wooden R-13 and I'm too afraid to try that.

There aren't any repair shops here so I can't take it anywhere.

DO NOT PUT IN FREEZER.

Take the upper joint and the barrel and attempt to wiggle it back and forth...this is not turning or rotating but movement across the axis.

I'm certain that more help will be suggested.

Is this a new clarinet?

No, not a new clarinet. I've had it for years and usually it's ok and I put cork grease on it.

Hold the barrel firmly down with one hand at the edge tabletop or other work surface with a folded up cloth between the barrel and surface, and with the other hand holding the top joint (which is overhanging the surface), gently but firmly wobble or rock the joint in all directions while pulling at the same time. This should free the barrel.

It's stuck because the tenon (usually the lower tenon ring) is binding in the socket, and that can be easily fixed by scraping a small amount of wood off the tenon ring where it binds. The tenon ring will have shiny patches where it's binding, and only these high spots should be skimmed to make the tenon fit well again. Sanding or turning the tenon rings down is risky as it can take too much wood off them, and this'll make the joint wobbly.
