I'm hosting a middle school honors band next year. The best players in the area from the local middle schools come together for 4 rehearsals and then a big performance.
There is a "big wig" city symphony clarinetist in town and I would love find a piece that is easy enough for a middle school level to accompany but still have a highly virtuosic clarinet solo for this guy to be featured on.
Does such a clarinet solo for band exist that would really inspire these young musicians?

There is a concert band/solo clarinet arrangement of the Cavallini - Adagio and Tarantella.
Many years ago I performed it with a local middle school festival group. The kids handled the accompaniment just fine.
