I don't know what the point of the original post was, but I think there's plenty of evidence that, all other things being equal, a musician who is female and attractive is more likely to achieve commercial success (as a soloist, anyway) than another musician who might be equally competent (or perhaps even superior) as a performer on the same instrument.
My flame suit (non-asbestos, I hate carcinogens!) is on.

I'm not sure if it is appropriate for someone to make a remark about someone's attractiveness in such a public forum. The comments about her talent is fair game, and maybe even a comment that she is attractive. But professing that this woman is "surely the most beautiful active professional clarinetist in the world." seems to me to be inappropriate. It seems unwise to compromise your stature in a community by crossing a seemingly obvious social boundary.
I'm sure your comments were not intended to be offensive or creepy, but in this era of gender equality, comments of this sort are no longer the norm.
my two cents...

The coolest thing in her bio is that she studied with Petko Radev! Suh-weet!

I don't disagree with your remarks, Ken, though I think you may miss the point of the people who wondered about the real rationale and intent behind Old Geezer's post -- and responded negatively, as do I.
And I don't really understand Old Geezer's last comment:
"Is this as interesting as old reeds, or what?"
Weird.

I think it is inappropriate because the original post was to a link of just the photo...and not the article...
And I don't get the reed comment...

Guys, come on - he was just being a guy commenting on a really pretty clarinetist, and how it was a diversion from the typical shop talk, reeds, etc.
That's how I took it at least.....no big deal.
Though I thought Michele Z was his favorite babe.

It might surprise you, but some people do care about "random" people, regardless of what country they are from.
