google catalogue vandoren. Cane is from the Var region. They have their own fields.

1) Jean McCane (truly a presidential sound)
2) Cane not Abel (speaks for itself)
3) Hurry Cane (for people with really fast fingers)
4) Candy Cane (play it for a week, then eat it)
5) Mexi Cane (grown with limited water; truly a dry sound)

CaneNine --- following Vandoren's eighth reed design, the next attempt was a real dog.

Is any reed maker consistent in your experience?

No. I reckon Vandoren get bad reviews as they're one of the more expensive makes so people expect better.

Inconsistency in cheaper makes is expected and with a box of 10 expensive reeds you're going to find the percentage of reeds that aren't up to scratch much easier than you'll find in a box of 25 cheapos.

All kidding aside, am I just imagining it, or do the plain blue box Vandorens seem consistently harder on the right side?
