Hi
I just got my first clarinet - a Yamaha ycl450.
The spec boasts: New resonance chamber in bell, for improved projection & intonation.
Now in examining the bell there is no sign of anything I would think of as a chamber. There is a shallow groove inside the bore, just below the join. Is that it?

The Yamaha Allegro (ycl550) has the same thing. I agree, it's not much of a chamber, but it kinda works. I think it helps the E/B and F#/C#, but maybe I'm just biased because I like the gold plated key posts =Þ.

On my CSv B flat, there is this chamber, and from what I can tell, it works. My low E and F are not flat. However, on my CS A clarinet which does not have that chamber, the low E and F are like most clarinets.. flat... but not to a degree that makes them unusable...

Some say the Yamaha resonance chamber is located in the same place as the improved tone due to the Hamilton plated keys!
