My husband has a Pedler bass clarinet, and I recently bought a Pedler Bb soprano on eBay. The eBay buy exceeded my wildest dreams - no cracks, recently repadded, and a wonderful, rich tone.
Now I want to collect the rest of the line. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to learn much about Pedler. I know the factory burned down in the early 40s and they didn't rebuild. I don't know what other models they made, so I'm not sure what I'm looking for.
Any other Pedler buffs that might be able to add some details to my limited knowledge?

Well, I know that they made both Albert and boehm system metal clarinets and that some were very high quality. I have a Pedlar 'coverkey' model metal clarinet (plateau system) that seems to be well made. I also have a Pedlar metal alto that has been making me crazy. I may have to break down and pay someone to fix it.

I have a reconditioned B-flat Pedler that I am just dying to find more information on. It is made of grenadilla wood and the old gentleman that first worked on it said it was a professional model, because of key configuration. (When I first got it, it was totally covered in a gooey brown haze from cigarette smoke! It had probably seen more than a few clubs!) It is in GREAT condition and sounds wonderful. But I was wondering, like Melissa, where can I get more info about Pedlers. I was told there was a man in Bartlesville, OK who is a big-time Pedler collector and ended up with some of the company records concerning serial numbers and manufacture dates. I would appreciate any additional info I can get. To the gentleman in Bartlesville: "If you are out there and read this, please get back to me on this board - there are surely more people than Melissa and me who want Pedler info!"
