 Yawning
Author: Chloe

Hi,

Wondering if anyone can help me, I've just been picked to play in a wind quintet and have been given some music to practice- the Nursery Rhyme Suite. The part is marked 'yawn' at one entry and 'bigger yawn' later on and I don't know what exactly this is or how to do it. I can't ask my teach cause I won't see him before the next rehearsal as he's on holiday so i wondered if anyone could help me.

TIA,

Chloe

If the instructions are over a rest, I suspect you're actually supposed to yawn normally, as a stage direction or effect. If it's over notes, you're probably supposed to make the notes sound as if you're yawning. I haven't heard this piece, though, so I can't be sure; hope it helps anyway.

It's over notes so I guess if I open my throat I should get the right sort of effect-thanks for the advice,

Chlo
