I have the Carl Fisher edition of the Rose 40 Studies for Clarinet.
I have a question about the accidentals in Measure 7 (ignoring the opening partial measure).
Should all the Gs after the first be played G-natural?
AND, should the turn in Measure 7 drop to F#?
Thank you for your help. I need to be clear on this at Wednesday morning's lesson.

Seems as though all the Gs should be natural and the turn should include an F-sharp. In the Hite edition, which tries to present the original source of the etudes without most of Rose's editorial revisions, the Gs are explicitly marked with natural signs and a sharp is indicated under the turn sign. I don't have the original Ries study available to check to see what David and Jean Hite may have corrected on their own, but it seems clear that you've been working within G major since bar 5 (hence the F-sharp) and the G-sharp is clearly a non-harmonic embellishment (it's an upside-down appogiatura - I've forgotten what it's called).

If it is the older Carl Fischer edition, the many inconsistencies and misprints are the reason that it is not the best edition to use.

Yes and yes.
Also, if you look at the next measure (measure 8) there is an F natural, presumably just as a reminder not to play an F# as was in the previous measure.
BTW - You might as well add the missing flat sign on the second A4 in the descending chromatic run in measure 15.

I agree with GBK, yes and yes. The passage makes no sense harmonically with further G#s, and the cadence on G in measure 8 makes us want to hear the leading tone in the turn.

I doubt that I have the ear to notice the harmonic inconsistencies that Walter Grabner refers to. My crisis occurred when I noticed that I'd practiced the wrong notes for a week. THEN, it sounded odd when played as written.
Progress is a rocky road in my "studio."
