A friend who plays the french horn and I have started getting together every once in awhile to play. So far we have been playing Koechlin's Quatre Petites Pieces but are having trouble finding other pieces for our odd duet. Any suggestions? He plays quite well (plays in the local symphony's community orchestra) and I'm still on the steep part of the clarinet learning curve (2nd year of playing - currently working on Rose 32 etudes and Baermann scale studies).
Thanks,
Anne

There's a bit of music for Bb trumpet and French horn; not exactly what you seek but beggars can't be choosers.

Any duets for clarinet and basset horn will work.
Or if he can transpose Eb parts at sight, any duets published for Bb soprano and Eb alto instruments.

Reinecke Trio Opus 274, a really neat piece for clarinet, horn and piano! Not easy for any of the three instruments, but well worth the effort.

Your duet partner may also wish to consider playing the horn only on the
Bb side, using trumpet or treble clef baritone fingerings, reading Bb parts. I've played in a "jazz" group where a horn player does that all the time, using the Bb "real book" for tunes he does not know. The horn and bass clarinet sound especially fetching when played together! Good luck!

There is a piece for clarinet and horn called "Swordplay" by Elma Miller that is not too difficult. It's available from the Canadian Music Centre:
