 any Barney Bigard fans?

I am primarily a guitar player, and much into Django Reinhardt.

I recently got a CD entitled "Django's All Star Sessions"

This set of recording has Django mostly as a sideman with some swinging wind bands, including the great Coleman Hawkins (does anyone play Tenor in that style anymore?)

One of the groups is a really cool small band, with Rex Stewart on cornet, Barney Bigard on Clarinet, Django and a bass player and I think that is it.

The whole CD is a swinging wonder, but the 5 tracks with this small group are my fav, and Barney's clarinet playing is incredible.

Hello,

Of course, Bigard is one of the best jazz clarinetists of all time!

My guitarist also sounds just like Django. Django impersonators are hard to come by. If you're ever in the DC area, let me know and I'll have you play with my band at a gig, if you're interested.

Django hired two guitarists on occasion because he was jealous that when Grapelli or another soloist soloed, they were backed up by two guitars.

I played a jazz festival last summer and there were three guitarists (mine included) that played like Django. We jammed all night and it was incredible!

Years ago, in NYC on business, I "found" Greenwich Village, and heard a couple of hours of B B with Eddie Condon's group as I recall. GREAT, Don

Thanx, Mark, Don
