Are any of you familiar with this piece? I heard it at a recital given by a clarinet professor at a local university about a year ago and really enjoyed it. I'm curious what others think of it. I have located one recording in which Colin Lawson plays it on a period instrument (an 8 key clarinet, I think).

Yep I have heard of it. I am currently playing it. It's a great piece of romantic music. I think there is a recording with Murray Khouri on clarinet.

I have heard of this piece, I have played it in the past. It is the most wonderfully Romantic piece I have ever played. It is full of so many contrasting ideas, smooth lyrical sections followed by technical scalic flourishes and a most of all it has a beautiful theme. Do you have any ambition to play this piece? If so I think that you will love every minute of it. Prepare for loads of practice though, some bits are tricky.
