I'm going to go ahead and put up an "orphan parts exchange/sale" web site but I need to figure out a good domain name for it - that isn't already taken. Any ideas?

Hmmm... Maybe Sneezy Parts? How about Clarinet Guts -R- Us? No, too morbid. Sneezy Guts isn't too much better. I'd keep thinking, but I'm probably better off otherwise... :-) -- Nate Zeien

The site won't be just for clarinet parts (too limiting, and the reason I'll be starting a new domain). I was thinking something like www.lonelypartsclub.com - just a little play on words.

Excellent idea, Mark, I have built up my "junk box" with my minor, simple repairing, and know from my pro friends here and in Tulsa, Ok City etc that such will be very useful. In particular, a listing of upper and lower joints by maker, model [if known], plastic or wood, serial no and/or age for replacement, usually due to tenon-socket breakage, would be great. Also "discarded" mp's, barrels and bells, ligatures and "special" caps listings would be good, IMHO. J Butler, what have I left out, I do go on at length!!! Don

Don,
that's exactly what I have in mind (although not limited to clarinets) - string instrument pegs, strings, pickups from guitars, machine heads, bocals, the 298 needle springs left over from a repair job ...
"orphan" parts - stuff that lies around the house or shop that really needs a new home.

www.lonelypartsclub.com is pretty catchy.
even .loneypartsclubband.com would work or .lonelypartsclub4band.com

Mark,
Let me know if you find a Buffet Crampon B-flat Soprano neck barrel laying around.

Love the MissLonelyparts name! One exception to the "lots of barrels around" rule -- barrels (neck sockets) for high quality metal clarinets are very difficult to find separately (pbsolete, no longer manufactured) and are often missing from instrument cases. Worth saving from cracked "parts" clarinets: the screws, segregated by what instruments they came from. Pivot screw assortments are expensive and individually sized screws even moreso. Hand making rod screws with tiny tap and die is a pain, too, so if they're salvagable, please salvage 'em!

.com & .org don't mean so much anymore, but it'll be MissLonelyparts.com .
Thanks for the suggestions, though. I like "partandsoul", too.

You wouldn't happen to have a bell for a contra alto clarinet? or could you tell me where to begin to look? I am trying to replace one for our Jr. High music department. Any info would be appreciated.
