Hi everyone,
I'm looking into getting a neckstrap and these are the only ones I've found. Does anyone have any experience with both? How do they compare?
I believe I've tried the Claricord one and disliked it. It was too elastic so it pulled the clarinet way too close to me so it really didn't fit in my mouth anymore. Perhaps a non-elastic strap (such as the BG) would be better?
Maybe I missed some... are there any more besides these two?
Thank you!
Michael

I own the Claricord strap, but if I bought another one, I would go with the BG strap. It looks sleeker and more discreet than the big colored Neotech ones.

I have both but my BG strap is the elastic version. I tried both BG versions, elastic
and non-elastic and much prefer the elastic one. It's also a lot easier to adjust than the claricord.

The claricord is horrible. The elastic is too tight, and any adjustment requires noisy velcro ripping, which is murder mid-concert. I have both the elastic and non-elastic BG, and my preference between the two of those varies.

I have used Claricord neckstraps for years and love them - you just have to find where you like it and keep it there. Take it on and off over your head rather than trying to "realign it" every time - mine is old but it has two holes you can choose from for the thumb rest - I use the "looser" option. They also stretch a little as you use it - either way, there will be an adjustment period to whatever neck strap you choose and you should use whatever works best for you!

I have tried both the elastic and regular BG straps, and prefer the regular one. Some prefer the elastic. When I compared harnesses, I preferred (and use) a Neotech, and chose it over a BG, so I'd say Neotech straps are worth checking also. I don't think the difference in a strap would be that big like in a harness though.
BTW I don't play with a strap, I just tried them.

Like some of the others I found the Claricord too springy and it put too much pressure on my mouth, messing up the embouchure. The BG is better, but a little too inflexible as far as positioning of the clarinet. So bottom line is I don't use either of them. If I were going to try something else I'd try the Bg elastic.

BG Elastic
The BG brand is very unabtrusive unlike neotech and others. They are comfortable and well built. I have the non-elastic and the elastic. The non elastic doesn't allow movement.

This is probably why I preferred the non-elastic version.
