Not sure what the first one is made of, but it is definitely a pre-WWII instrument, probably 1930s. It doesn't have the Leblanc jump trill keys and the left pinky keys are on one post. The case is an early one too. It looks nice. Chances are it would need an overhaul ($200+). The second one is post war. I suspect that there is a 1 in front of the serial number. If so, it would be from around the late 1940s. Again, the seller says it needs pads, so you can budget another $200. These are nice horns, but $300 ready to play would be tops for me. Check out some of the "off brands". like SML or Couesnon. You could find a gem for a lot less. Buying instruments on that auction site is a real crap shoot. One of the best clarinets I own cost $10, and one of the worst was way more expensive.

"The first one is hard rubber."
Does it place it into student/watered down/second line/etc. category?
To put it another way: were any clarinets intended for professional use made of hard rubber before WWII?
