I've wondered why I can go higher that a C7(triple high C).Every time I play my clarinet I experiment with differnet overtones and fingerings and I play the hightest notes on the paino they match up at concert pitch. With the help of my paino playing brother my highest note is a G#8(concert F#8).

The highest I can play without using my teeth is that C# in the Ginastera... I've probably managed to squeek out something higher, but I don't really keep track...

Just whatever overtone/harmonic you hit. I remember a youtube of a flashy clarinetist playing some operatic solo where he hit those SUPER high harmonics. They were fairly quiet so the orchestra had to quite down while he reached up there, but they were definitely "in tune squeaks".
Also, I have saved on my youtube account a video of Robert Spring's warmup routine that he put out there. I think it's worked up to F# or G above double high C. And he works it into his routine playing scales/arpeggios up through there. if you can hit it, work it into scales, thirds, etc.

I didn't get Robert Spring with that link, Ryder, but rather Mate Bekavac. Certainly a technical virtuoso.

The average listener (non-clarinetist) probably does not realize how difficult that piece is to play and how (seemingly) effortlessly he does it...GBK

I guess I just miss the allure of this kind of thing.
