Hi all
My Bass has been in repair, while it was there I asked the repairman if he could replace the missing screw on the peg assembley. He 'phoned back a while ago saying the bass is all finished, but he can't find a gnurled screw to fit, saying it they were custom made for the bass selmer bundy clarinets.
I found these on the net:

http://www.thebandroom.biz/01_item_action.php/items.php?id=661
These could be the right ones, I'm not exactly sure what model bass mine is, I will be able to tell for sure this weekend when I go to pick it up.
but at a total of $43 for such tiny parts, I think that's a little extortionate. Some may consider this cheap of me but does anyone have a broken/disused instrument from which they would be willing to spare these two parts?

If you don't mind a replacement, why not make something with a suitable bolt (or threaded rod) and a wing nut?
Shouldn't be too hard to improvise something. I assume you won't go to a beauty contest with it, would you?

The Bundy screw is hard to get tight enough to keep it from sliding down. A wing nut will be better. Any large hardware store will be able to measure the size and thread pitch and give you one that fits. If that's futile, any trained instrument repair technician will be able to make a screw from rod stock.
f you give up and buy the piece from thebandroom.biz, wrap a couple of rubber bands around it to make it easier to tighten.

thankyou both for the advice, I will try and bodge something together with a wingnut. Cosmetics are not a concern, but money is.
Thanks.

I believe Ferrees carries these.
Although my Bass has its own I did make one for a Vito. Using a piece of (I forget which) either 1/4 or 5/6 steel rod long enough to project through the "other" end, thread one end about 1/4inch long. Tighten a wing nut on the thread and put a hex nut behind it. (epoxy the two nuts if desired). With a file make a flat deep enough to allow the peg rod to slip through the hole on the Bell attachment. Round off slightly what will be the top end of the flat so as to imitate a cam action. Insert the gizmo and then the Peg rod while adjusting the "gizmo" so as to allow the peg rod to slip past the flat. Once through the flat adjust the length of the peg rod and tighten the wing nut thus "camming" the peg rod against the hole wall. This does not duplicate the Bundy mechanism...which is easier to use....but it does suffice.
