Hi, I posted this the Doublers Board, but I don't know how often that board is read. I'll delete the thread on the other board. Anyway:
Reed 1: Pic/Flute/Cl/Alto Sax
What is the break down of this book? Is this mostly a flute book with smatterings of Cl & sax? Or is it mostly clarinet? My board search revealed most people on the Bboard have played Reed 2 or 3, so I was wondering if Reed 1 is primarily a flute book.
Thanks.

WHAT AN INCREDIBLE DUNCE I CAN BE SOMETIMES!
THIS:
Very little clarinet, for sure. Mostly sax, if I recall; about 10% flute.
But then there's my unreliable memory. (I remember things whether they happened or not.)
WAS REFERRING TO "ANYTHING GOES"!
B. B. Birdie has mostly flute and sax in Book 1.
B.

The Reed 1 book for "Bye bye Birdie" has a big clarinet solo, at the beginning of the "Shriners' ballet" sequence. It's been awhile; I don't recall much else about the book.
I wonder when there will be collections of excerpts from Broadway shows, to go along with the collections of excerpts from symphonic literature?

Really? I wasn't sure if Reed 2 had the big solo and Reed 1 played pic in that section. Hmmm.

Maybe the books have been redone since I played BBB - possible, since Finale didn't exist then. Or it could be that R1 is on clarinet at the beginning and on piccolo later.

The Doubler's Board is well read. This post would have been popular there.
