I used to use a Larry Combs LC1 mouthpiece, It had good tone , but it was a darker tone than I wanted to get. So I bought myself a Vandoren 5rv...
This is where the story gets interesting. I always noticed that the Right side of my LC1 would "blow through" the underside of any reed i would play. I get the 5RV and notice that i don't have this problem.
I thought I read somewhere that Larry Combs is no longer using his branded mouthpieces due to inaccuracy in manufacturing.
That is problem one solved, and the tone is brighter than the old LC1. I'm happy with that.
Problem 2. Now that i am playing again, and have this 5RV, I notice now that i have a Buildup of moisture in the mouthpiece after about 5 minutes of playing. I have to remove the mouthpiece from the barrel and sometimes swab the inside of them both. This buildup in the mouthpiece creates a gurgling sound when I play.
I also see that there is a lot of moisture coming from the C# key and from the bottom of the horn. Also build up around other pads.
This is much more than I used to have when I was playing every day.
Is this an indication that I need to apply some bore oil? Or maybe i should play with a sponge in my mouth!

Maybe the cooler drier weather causes more condensation in your horn, I think it has nothing to do with which mouthpiece you use. I have that problem in summer when I play in heavily air-conditioned places, too. Do you have a good quality swab, like silk or microfiber? I have heard you can train the condensation away from the tone holes when you put a drop of bore oil in and rotate the horn as the drop goes through, so that it doesn't get in any toneholes.
Not sure what you mean by blowing through the underside of the reed, and I don't know much about the bright/dark qualities of those two mouthpieces.

Lori, thanks for your input.
The blowing through is a problem i think the LC1 I have has. I think that the facing or the table of the mouthpiece is not level, thus, the mouthpiece is closer to the reed on one side and farther away, and just happens to be long enough of a difference that unless i put a bunch of the mouthpiece in my mouth, I feel a draft coming from the right side of the piece. You are lucky if you havn't had to deal with this problem. I hope no one else has had this problem either.
