 Silly LeBlanc LL question
Author: Rob
Date:   2000-10-05 20:55

Okay, I just picked up an old LeBlanc and I don't know what model it is or even if it has a proper one. It has a symbol that looks like a cursive L with a "reversed L" alongside it. It kind of looks like a firemans hat. Is this an LL? If not.....? Thank you, Rob

YUP. it'll be on Upper Joint, IMMSMR. LL for Leon LeBlanc. I own one, too, although it doesn't get much use. Nice keywork. Mine is 25 y/o I would guess.

I own a LL with articulated G#/C#, forked Bb/Eb, and alternate Eb/Ab. It has a lightning action and an easy response although Buffet players probably would consider the tone to be too bright. As I use it for jazz (mostly doubling in a big band) perceived brightness is not a problem for me. Some day I'd like to have a LL with the extra keywork mentioned above plus a low Eb (full Boehm model). That would be the ultimate jazz clarinet.

And remember: "There are NO silly questions ---- just silly questioners".
