Hi all
I'm on the lookout for a knockout Clarinet solo or feature for wind band - For years I have been playing the Artie Shaw Concerto as the best kind of feature and it always goes down well, so I am looking for something along the same line.
I ve just heard the Eddie Daniels CD 'Swing Low Sweet Clarinet' and thought the arrangement of Sing Sing Sing with the HR Big Band was fantastic and wondered if something similar had ever been done for a large wind band?
Its for an open air concert with British military bands here in London, so I also wondered if any of the American Military musicians on here have any ideas or experience of good solid arrangements with a jazzy flavour??
any ideas or help would be much appreiciated
best wishes
Ben

Ben,
Have you tried Artie's "Man from Mars"? Or any of his other charts?

Has no-one heard of any arrangements for wind band that are great showpieces?

Have you heard of Frank Ticheli's "Blue Shades" before? It has a really fun clarinet feature, but I haven't found any really good recordings as of yet...

I rather like the Air Force band recording of it, which can be downloaded from amazon.com.
