An interesting article in the "Clarinet & Saxophone Society of Great Britain" magazine talks about counterfeit Vandoren reeds/products and Vandoren's Flow Pack packaging as a direct attempt to thwart counterfeiters:

How do you know your Vandorens are counterfeit?
There is more than one good reed in the box...

Wow, who would've thought a black market for REEDS! Makes you wonder about everything that you don't buy direct from a dealer, huh?
It sounds as though Van Doren made a responsible choice.

D'ya think those "Moray" reeds I bought out of the back of some guy's panel truck were counterfeit? Gee, they sure seemed to be made out of some spongy cane......

all the counterfeit reeds are V11s and Rue 53 so just read the boxes

Interesting article but strictly marketing hype. Technically speaking, Cellophane cannot be made from polypropylene.
