Is rubbing alcohol (isopropanol/isopropyl alcohol) safe to remove fingerprints/smudges (not tarnish) from silver plated keys?

If it is just finger prints, then microfiber cloth (as you use for glasses) is enough, but alcohol will not damage the keys or plating. I would be careful of WHERE you use it, though. If a lot of it spills onto a silencing cushon, then it will surely loosen the glue and the cushon will soon fall off.

Alcohol will not loosen silencing material if it is glued with a good contact glue such as Evostik.
However some alcohols destroy the bonds in the structure of some plastics, making them brittle. So I don't use it for cleaning plastic clarinets.
On timber clarinets it may damage the finish obtained by the manufacturer's use of a dye.
