A teacher of clarinet from A German orchestra told me pitch was 444 in the mid 60s to 70s...is that still the case today?

Pitch is not standardised in Germany. Some orchestras play at 443, which I think is more common these days. But it would be good if some of our German colleagues could tell us what they play at.

We play at 442 (more or less :-), as I think do all orchestras in Switzerland.

I think the Berlin Phil may be around 440-442Hz - I'll check the horn solo in a recent broadcast of Shostakovich 10 with a tuner and get back to you.

If you Google berliner philharmoniker kammerton, you will find claims that the Berlin Phil tunes to 447.
Of course, misinformation spreads fast on the net. This may be true, or it may simply be that someone has compared a recording with a tuner, not realising that the pitch of recordings may be different from the pitch at which a piece was performed.
For this reason, it is important to check a live broadcast; better still, take a tuner to a performance and cut out the middle man.

The university orchestra I play with tunes to 443. Our conductor said that is what you would consider "normal" today in Germany. Interestingly, one of the barrels that came with my (German) student clarinet precisely fits to 443.

My Yamaha Oehler plays at 443Hz with the stock barrels (56mm and a 54mm), though I made a 59mm one to bring the pitch down.

I am wondering if the Wiener Philmoniker is tuned around 446-448Hz, I have to tune my clarinet in about these Hz when I play the Mozart's Concerto Adagio along with the CD of Peter Schmidl and Wiener Philharmoniker.
Anyone has idea about it ?

When I heard Karl Leister here in Madison, he had no problem playing his Oehler (I think) clarinets with the piano tuned to 440. But then, I do seem to recall him saying something about the pitch being higher in Germany.
