 Corigliano Concerto for .72 ?

I don't know if anyone is familiar with the music download site

http://amiestreet.com

It seem that you have to register with an email address. The pricing seems to be based on some type of variable scale, I believe based on number of sales. Some recordings are a few dollars, others are free.

The Drucker Corigliano Concerto recording was listed (last I checked) for .72

The Shifrin Mozart is $2.24

Do you think its properly licensed?

Price seems too low for it to.

I have no idea. I thought that perhaps someone else may know something about it. I read some of the info that I found on the site, but it did not give too much of the business or legal end.

I heard from Curtis Faculty Pianist Hugh Sung who has the Rach. Piano Concerto on that site and he did put it there.

Maybe New World Records put the Corigliano there. Strange that it's so cheap though!

The site seems to have a flexible demand-based pricing system. Tracks start free to encourage people to tell other people about them, and get more expensive once they're popular.

Looking into prepping a recording and selling it online a while back, I found that there are different pricing schemes and royalty payouts for different sites... some (e.g. iTunes) are flat rate, some (e.g. eMusic) are variable.

It's also possible they're burning through some startup funds until the site becomes popular.

I think the AmieStreet pricing scheme is quite cool (and reasonable!), and hope it catches on.
