I am german and use a German Clarinet and a Buffet E13. I tried the Selmer Signature and think that it is a wonderful instrument.
My Question is: I never saw someone using the Buffet Elite. Is it used for special purpose or from few people. Who likes it, who not
and why. How is the sound colour (Compared to my E13 and the Signature)?

I've only tried a couple of Elites before and they didn't impress me a whole lot.
I honestly think they are WELL over priced especially when you can get just as good a sound on a Buffet R13 or RC (which is what I play on). The main differences are the look (they're really pretty). They have some 'gold' bits on them and they don't have the silver rings on the joints which looks impressive. I can't say that I have tried an E13 but I have played on and at one stage even considered buying Signatures. This is only my opinion but I recommend that you give the Elite a toot yourself and see what you think! You might fall in love with it!

From the keywork side I think the Elite is very good (apart from the repulsing looks of the gold thingy's). It has got some really good screw-adjustabalities. The sound is truelly different from the RC (I personally don't know the R-13). It is much more bright and clear and has somewhat less projection. The instrument is (by my knowledge) designed for chamber music. Intonation is MUCH better then that of the RC. The light weight feels a bit scary at first. The looks of the Elite are ok i think, but they should have left out the gold. If you'd want it purely for the looks of it, a (less then 1/10 th of the price) B-10 has the black rings too. Overall the Elite is a very good instrument and in that sence surely worth it's price (more than the prestige models), but the sound is quite distinct, it's a matter of taste if you love it or hate it.

Yeah, the weight or lack thereof ... frightens you ... wouldn't want to break it. NOT. But, one can't help thinking. The Elite sure is a lot of simoleans!!!
I liked the Signature, but probably haven't tried it with the right setup (or setup right?). Clearly seemed to tune better. Then I read about everybody who went for the "better tuning" (Signature & Opus) and then comes back to Buffet for the sound.(Maybe hey just wantr a change?)
Haven't heard about anybody who's come back from Rossi, although I've seen some for sale that couldn't have been owned for long. OUCH!
Good luck. mw
