I just got two clarinets that are in decent condition. One is a wood Bundy/Selmer Bb and an A. Fontaine Bb. The serial for the Bundy is 59228. It's only labled Bundy on the barrel and Bundy Selmer made in Elkhart Indiana on the Bell. The A. Fontaine is stamped A. Fontaine a Paris on the barrel, upper joint and bell. Serial: 569. I was wondering if anyone can give me any info on when they were made or any information at all. I keep coming to dead ends! Thanks a bunch!

Elkhart was/is a place that makes clarinets and clarinet blanks, and they often have other large clarinet manufactures names on them, like the "Evette/Evette Shaefer" clarinets that say "Buffet Crampon" or "Sponsored by Buffet" on them. They're really Evette clarinets, but the Buffet name and sponsorship sells more. It's an Elkhart Clarinet, but sponsored/approved by Selmer for their Bundy (low-end) line.
The other one? I've only seen that name on metal clarinets.

I had an A Fontaine Bb some time ago and found that its mfgr. was Cousenon of France, their student model, a reasonably good cl ! So, a Search [above] for Cousenon might give you more indo. Luck, Don

I would ignore Geirskogul's post. S/he doesn't have a clue about what s/he's talking about.
Best regards,
