 Rheuben Allen Unison clarinet

my wife purchased this clarinet for our 6th grade daughter (first instrument) to play in school band. she won't use it and prefers the one the school is 'loaning' her.
This Unison seems to be a very high quality instrument. I just wonder why she prefers the obviously cheaper plastic-ish model.

Two thoughts come to mind: The plastic model could be a lot easier to play. Or, the school instrument looks more like the others' clarinets.

Grade 6 - that makes her about 12 -13 yrs old, right about the time that girls especially are far more concerned about appearances in front of their friends and not what Mom or Dad think, or the quality of an instrument that might look different (maybe not so shiny?)

Keep the instrument for another 10 years when she might see it more appreciatively.
