 L L Lebret clarinet

I have just bought a clarinet marked LL Lebret. Well I have paid for it, though yet to receive it. I know this is not the standard way round, but now I have bought it I am interested to find out what it is. Yes, I know it should be the other way around.

Not totally idle before buying it, I have found out that Louis Leon Joseph Lebret was born in 1862 and made flutes. He set up a shop in 1888 in Paris specialising in metal Boehm flutes. The company was sold to Rene Celles in 1928, who passed it on to Robert Malerne in 1932. He seems to have been rather good at making flutes.

So the obvious question is - for a flute maker, could he do a half decent clarinet?

Also, might a clarinet continue to be made with his name on it after 1928 and beyond?

It is a standard 17/6 Boehm - and a restoration / repair project to keep me off the streets....

Any snippet of information, however vague (or disparaging) is welcome....

Some photos

If anyone can tell from these if it is a Malerne stencil I would be interested to know (I would assume if not likely to be a Malerne stencil then it is more likely to be by Lebret as an independent)

Thanks

Nice photos Chris and imo it looks like a well made clarinet. I can't imagine such a fancy engraving on a stencil.

Malernes have the same font on the engraving. A stencil of the Malerne "Standard" seems likely. They look the same at a glance, but maybe some real expert can chime in.

Thanks

Looking like a standard. One tiny bit more information now the keys are off

There is a mark "S6" just below a post on the UJ and LJ
