My school has an R-13 Bass Clarinet that i rented from them to use during the year. Do you know of any place that i can track the serial number to find out when it was made? The instrument looks fairly new. Would i be considered lucky to be playing an R-13 in the 8th grade in the ''Symphonic'' Band?

I'd consider you lucky. It is a professional grade instrument and most junior highs and high schools are only going to have plastic student-grade horns.
